Q: May Allah accept your deeds in this holy month. My question to you is: Does the Imams’ knowledge include all religious and worldly affairs? I mean, do they know everything about medicine, geometry, satellite, space and anything in today’s modern life? What are the narrations to indicate that they have knowledge of such things? Thanks
This question does not apply only to the Imams but also to the prophet. The answer is that: There is a general saying from the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, who said: I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate. The term knowledge is unconditional and unrestricted covering all types of knowledge. Therefore, the Prophet and the Imams, peace and benedictions of Allah be upon them, have knowledge of all sciences. This and many other traditions are the proofs. In addition, reason is also a great factor in helping us come to a conclusion about the infallibles’ knowledge of things.
