This lecture studies Hadith Thaqalayn from a Sunni perspective. There are different versions of this tradition in their sources, some including the word “itrah”, and some others including the word “Sunnah” and there are some traditions that also include the term “my household”. The fact that this tradition has been consistently and repeatedly reported by Sunni narrators is not a matter of debate or doubt. The controversy is about who the Ahlulbayt are and who should be resorted to. Like Shiite scholars, Sunni scholars also believe that it is necessary to hold fast to the progeny of the Prophet (S) which, as per the prophetic tradition, is extended from the heavens to the earth.
